My Notes on The Garbologists
Learn why I’m so excited to share this unique buddy dramedy with you!

We’re kicking off our newest season with an unexpected and exciting new dramedy! The Garbologists takes the stage September 14 – October 6!
I chose this piece because it completely surprised me. The title absolutely fascinated me, and when I read it, I just found myself so surprised, which I love. You might think you have this show and these characters figured out, but I feel certain you’ll experience the same shock and awe that I did.
So let’s talk some trash, and I’ll share why I’m so excited for this show!
Why This Show:
- I so enjoy plays that aren’t deemed mysteries but that unravel in ways that are totally unexpected. This play does that. There are tons of plays with odd pairings, including the original Odd Couple, but this is so much more than that. There’s something very genuine about these two people who are brought together by a truck.
- The theme of perceptions is a driving force for our 2024-2025 Season, and this is a marvelous example of a world we don’t know much about but see every day. Audiences will walk out with a different point of view, not only about this profession, but mostly about these two complex individuals.

- I am so thrilled with this wonderful cast! Nathan and Torie make what could be deemed a buddy play something much deeper and richer. The characters of the show are full of complexities both hilarious and real, and having these deeply lovable actors play them is really wonderful.
- Playwright Lindsay Joelle says it best when she describes this show as a comedy until it’s not. The show is a comedy, but it’s also deep, rich, heartbreaking, sad, and hopeful. It talks about difficult topics in ways that many of us would rather ignore but that still need to be brought up. I don’t want people to have any expectations; just come in for a ride-along (pun intended).
I look forward to welcoming you to this exciting season kickoff!
Sincerely,
D. Lynn Meyers
