LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati is located on the unceded and stolen territories of the Hopewell, Adena, Myaamia (Miami), Shawandasse Tula (Shawanwaki/Shawnee), and Wazhazhe Maⁿzhaⁿ (Osage) peoples, who have continuously lived upon this land since time immemorial.

We recognize the historic discrimination and violence inflicted upon Indigenous peoples in Ohio and the Americas, including their forced removal from ancestral lands, and the deliberate and systematic destruction of their communities and culture. We likewise recognize the stolen peoples who were brutally ripped from their native lands, cruelly enslaved, and whose centuries of unpaid labor built this nation and its economy.

We further acknowledge the socio-economic, institutional, physical, psychological, and emotional wounds and inequalities that endure as a result of these reprehensible and inhumane crimes.

Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati honors Indigenous peoples—past, present, and emerging—here and around the world, and we wish to pay respect to local elders, including those of the lands from which you may be joining us virtually today.
